Danny Wimmer Presents Aftershock Festival again this year in Sacramento, California, which is famously sponsored by Monster Energy and it is the biggest it’s ever been!
It is taking place this year on Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14, 2018 again at Discovery Park with yet another and even bigger cataclysmic lineup.
Saturday’s lineup includes headliner and Sacramento natives, Deftones (who played the festival in 2012), alongside Godsmack, 311, Gwar, Sevendust, Underoath, Hellyeah (featuring drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott formally of the late and great Pantera and Damageplan), as well as countless others.
Sunday’s lineup includes reuniting headliner and rocking fan acclaimed System of a Down who will be sharing the stage with Alice in Chains (featuring new singer William DuVall who replaced the late and great Layne Staley), Incubus, Slash, Seether,Dorothy and one of our 90’s nostalgia artists, Everlast, as well as countless others. They also have some incredible returning vendors including Jack Daniels, Caduceus Wine Garden, The Music Experience, Zippo and dozens of foodtrucks like Dippin Dots Ice Cream, Dogtown, Brewski’s Hot Rod Sandwiches, etc.
Aftershock Festival is an incredible mix of Metal, Alternative, Rock, Modern Progressive and Nu Metal as we have seen before in their previous lineups since its inception in 2012, including Stone Temple Pilots, Papa Roach, Megadeth, Limp Bizkit, Pepper, Rob Zombie, Pennywise, Tool, Slayer, Primus, Janes Addiction, Disturbed, Ghost and most recent, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle and Ozzy Osbourne.
The schedules for these lineups are always evenly disbursed and despite some conflicting time schedules, as I experienced last year with A Perfect Circle and Nine Inch Nails, especially if you plan on being anywhere close to the stage, it allows for all their artists to have a heavy audience population and allows the fans to run back and forth between stages to try and catch all of their favorite artists.
Aftershock’s 2018 lineup has recently sent shock waves down to Southern California where our demographics are slowly but surely becoming more present at the festival. Up until this year we have seen the Sacramento and Northern California Natives flood Discovery Park every single year, making it one of the biggest rock festivals of the year, while Southern Californians are just truly learning of Aftershock’s rockstar capacity. Most of those Socal residents who make their way up north for the festival have expressed that unless you knew about Danny Wimmer or followed the lineup artists on social media prior to the event, it was surprisingly a humbly marketed event for Socal. That was until this year …
Radio Stations like KROQ, KLOS and iHeart Radio have continuously promoted (and given away tickets) for this event to the point of seeing Weekend General Admission Levels 1 through 5 sell out within only the first month of the ticket sales which opened on April 13, 2018 (normally ticket sales would remain open with some availability up until the day of the show). Weekend GA has never sold out this quickly in the festivals history. VIP weekend passes also sold out within the first week of ticket sales along with their Hotel and Ticket Packages, their Monster Energy Bundle and their VIP Zippo Packages.
Good News though! As of today, Saturday Only General Admission are still available at Aftershockfestival.com
Southern Californians, don’t miss out again this year and catch Deftones headlining among other amazing artists. The Aftershock Festival is on its way to becoming our modern day Woodstock but instead we are promoting the resurgence of Rock ‘N’ Roll’s music, art and culture back into its native community.
See you rockstars in Sacramento! (Follow up story to come with band interviews and meet and greets)
